Russia took first overall position in Stadskanaal

Russian Wheelchair Fencing team took 14 medals and gained a top position in team standings at IWAS Wheelchair Fencing U17/U23 World Championships in Stadskanaal, the Netherlands.
The competitions held in two age categories Under-17 and Under 23 from October 7 to 12.
39 athletes from 10 countries took place in the competitions.
Russian Team grabbed 5 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals.
The next team, Italy, took only 4 medals, the third one, Georgia, took 3 medals.
Moscow athlete Alena Evdokimova became the most decorated fencer in the Netherlands. She took 4 medals (Bronze U17 Foil Mix, Silver U17 Epee Mix, Gold U17 Women’s Epee, Gold U17 Women’s Foil)

Maksim Shaburov (Novosubirsk) – two gold medals (U23 in Men’s Foil and Epee)
Viktor Dronov (Novosibirsk) – gold in U23 Men’s Sabre
Anna Klimenkova (Omsk) - silver U23 Women’s Epee, bronze U23 Women’s Foil)
Irina Mishurova (Moscow) – bronze in U23 Women’s Epee, bronze U23 Women’s Foil
Oleg Gavrilenkov (St.-Petersburg) – silver in U17 Men’s Foil
Nikita Trofimov (Novosibirsk) and Vadim Shcherbakov (St.-Petersburg) took bronze medals in Men’s Foil Event in U17 and U23 respectfully.
