In the city of Peresvet (Moscow region), a t the Ice Arena of the Park-Hotel “Peresvet” was held a solemn opening ceremony of the all-Russian sports competitions in “sports of persons with physical impairment in the disciplines of para ice hockey, cross-country skiing and biathlon” and “sports of persons with visual impairment in the disciplines of cross-country skiing and biathlon”.
Before the opening ceremony, a participant of the opening ceremony of Sochi 2014 and participant from Russia in the Eurovision in Portugal, Julia Samoilova performed the premiere of the song “I Won’t Break”.
After the traditional parade of regions, which included the presentation of all 26 regions participating in the competition, the official part of the ceremony took place.
Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Pavel Kolobkov, the Governor of Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov and President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Vladimir Lukin welcomed participants with salutatory words.
The President of the RPC said: Good afternoon, dear friends, dear athletes! I am glad to see you all here! Our skiers, biathlon and para ice hockey teams!
Today, there are also those athletes, who performed at the sports stadiums of the Paralympic Games in Korea. Moreover, I am doubly pleased to see you all together, one strong, cohesive, unbroken team of Russian Paralympians. Our competitions are not just competitions, it is a celebration. The feast of the strengthening and development of our entire Russian Paralympic movement. The movement cannot develop only by achieving success and victories. Not everything can go like a smooth track. There are difficulties, there are problems, but the main thing is how we overcome these difficulties, these problems. Our Celebration is an example of the fact that our spirit cannot be broken. An example of how to overcome difficulties, gain new strength, pride and perseverance. We will do our best to continue the path of successful development of our Paralympic sports. We will overcome everything!
Our main task is to set an example and attract people to an active and diverse life. We have already done a lot for this. You made it by your personal example. The whole country and the world sees it, it is proud of you and applauds to you. We won, we win and we will win! Low bow to you!”
At the end of the opening ceremony, a demonstration match is para ice hockey between “red” and “blue” teams, which included members of Russian national team on para ice hockey and players of clubs, participating in open all-Russian competitions, was held.
At the viewing of the solemn ceremony and the demonstration match took part the Chairman of the RPC Governing Board, RPC First Vice-President, RPC Head of Staff for participation of Russian athletes and athletes personal in the XII Paralympic Winter Games 2018 in Pyeonchang (Republic of Korea) Pavel Rozhkov, Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Marina Tomilova, the Chairman of Fund of Social Insurance of the Russian Federation Andrey Kigim, the General Secretary of the Russian Paralympic Committee, 5-times Paralympic champion Andrey Strokin, RPC Vice-President, the President of the Blind Sports Federation Lydia Abramova, RPC Vice-President, 13-times Paralympic Champion Rima Batalova, the Minister of Sport of Moscow region Roman Terushkov, member of the RPC Governing Board, the President of the Russian Federation of Sport for Persons with Physical Impairment Lev Seleznev and others.
