The head coach of the national team Ekaterina Mukhortova comments the results of the World Para Cycling Championship:

- In general, the performance of Russian athletes can be considered successful. Our progress is obvious. This year, 1.5 times Russian cyclists more went to the world championship than the last year. The newcomers: Alina Punina, Anna Tikhonova, Ivan Ermakov and Alexander Davidovich showed themselves from the best side. And they have not yet won the medals, but they have demonstrated their great potential, which I have no doubt will realize in the near future.

The successes of more experienced athletes were awarded. In general, our team got medals about twice as much as last year. And this despite the increased competitivness: at the World Championships was presented by approximately four hundred participants.

Of course, Arslan Gilmutdinov distinguished himself. He was already the world champion in 2015, and then again rose to the highest step of the podium, which indicates his high class of sport performance. It is a pity that Svetlana Moshkovich, Yulia Sibagatova, Sergei Pudov remained in a step from "gold". They fully deserve the first place.

One of the main tasks that we set upon ourselves was to win the points necessary to obtain licenses for participation in the Summer Paralympic Games of 2020 in Tokyo. These points are awarded to those participants who are among the ten strongest in each event. We have enough points to get a few licenses for the Paralympic Games. It turns to be clear who will eventually obtain the licenses closer to the Paralympic starts. The most important thing for us now is that Russian athletes are removed from all sanctions and allowed to fight for the Paralympic medals. We hope that this will happen in the very near future.
