A meeting between the President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Vladimir Lukin, the Chairman of the Executive Committee, the First Vice-President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov and the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin was held at the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Marina Tomilova.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of Paralympic sports in Russia, the preparation of the Russian national teams for the XVI Paralympic Summer Games 2020 in Tokyo (Japan) and the XIII Paralympic Winter Games in 2022 in Beijing (China), medical and logistical providing the Paralympic national teams, the holding of All-Russian competitions and training events under the conditions of restrictions imposed related to the spread of a new coronavirus infection.
The meeting participants also discussed the organization and holding of the World Games of the International Wheelchair and Amputee Federation IWAS in Sochi in 2021 in the territory of the Russian Federation.
IWAS World Games is the largest international competition among athletes with physical impairments. The IWAS - 2021 Games program is planned to include competitions in athletics, swimming, archery, table tennis, badminton and sitting volleyball. More than 700 athletes from 40 countries are expected to participate in the competition.
