At the initiative of the Chinese Paralympic Committee a working meeting between Russian Paralympic Committee and Chinese NPC took place in RPC head-quarters in Moscow on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. The Russian NPC was represented by its President, Vladimir Lukin; Chairman of the RPC Governing Board – RPC First Vice-President Pavel Rozhkov, NPC China was represented by its Vice-President, Deputy Chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation, Jia Yong and Head of International Relations department of China Disabled Persons' Federation Сhi Junchang.
Alexander Lysenko, Chairman of the Russian side of the Council on Disability Affairs of the Russia-China Committee of Friendship also took part at the meeting.
The parties have discussed the issues of development of Paralympic Movement worldwide, fighting against doping in sport, bilateral cooperation on extending promotion of elite and mass sport. Chinese colleagues stressed the intention to assist the Russian Paralympic Committee in its reinstatement in the IPC.
As it was published earlier, at the forthcoming election of IPC Governing Board in September this year, China nominated 2 candidates: Zhan Haidi, President of the NPC China (for the position of IPC President) and Jia Yong (for the position of IPC Governing Board member). The other candidates to become a new IPC President are Andrew Parsons, IPC Vice-President; Patrick Jarvis, IPC GB member and President of NPC Canada and John Petersson – former President of European Paralympic Committee.
The parties came up with the opinion to systematically change views and coordinate mutual efforts for further constructive development of World Paralympic Movement.
