The Russian Paralympic Committee and the All Russian Federation of Sports of Persons with Physical Impairments held a classification seminar on adaptive sports on the topic “Introduction to sports and functional classifications of Sports for athletes with Physical Impairment” and also classification master classes in Khanty – Mansijsk.
The seminar and master class was held by a member of the Medical Committee of the International Paralympic Committee, Deputy Head of the Russian Paralympic Committee Commission on Medicine, Anti-Doping and Classification of Athletes, Head of the Department of Anti-Doping, Medical and Scientific and Methodological Support of the Russian Paralympic Committee Staff, Doctor of Medical Science Guzel Idrisova.
The seminar was attended by 75 participants, including coaches, doctors and specialists working in the field of adaptive sports.
The seminar touched upon an important part of the Paralympic movement - the functional classification, which provides equal conditions for athletes to compete. During the seminar, international and Russian controlling documents on classification, the basic principles of classification in sports of persons with physical impairments, and much more were considered.
For the participants of the Seminar, a master class was held on the physical assessment of the athlete with physical impairments with a demonstration of coordination tests, tests for muscle strength, measuring the range of motion in the joints, etc.
At the conclusion of the seminar, all participants received the Russian Paralympic Committee certificates for the course: “Introduction to the sports and functional classification of athletes with physical impairments”.
A classification seminar in adaptive sports was held as part of the V All-Russian Forum on the Development of the Paralympic Movement in the Russian Federation.
Guzel Idrisova at the end of the seminar, at the request of the organizers, classified 19 young sledge hockey players of the Khanty-Mansijsk Autonomous Region – Yugra.
