The Russian national Para rowing team is struggling for the medals in the world championship held from September 9 to 16 in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv under the aegis of the World Rowing Federation (FISA).
The program of the competition includes 14 Olympic disciplines, 6 international and 9 disciplines in Para rowing.
More than 900 athletes from 62 countries submitted their applications for participation in the World Championship, representatives of 25 countries will take part in Para rowing.

The Russian Para Athletes are going to participate in 5 medal events from the total 9.
Alexei Chuvashov is participating individually in the Paralympic class PR1M1x and the other event for which the Russian crew made a submission in class PR3 Mix4.
The Russian crew for this class is formed by the athletes Polina Ruchkina (Moscow), Ekaterina Snegireva (Moscow Region), Evgeny Borisov (Saint-Petersburg), Olga Kononova (Moscow Region) and Vyacheslav Makhov (Saint-Petersburg), in total amount in the event participate 12 crews.
In the non-paralympic classes, Andrei Rogachev (St. Petersburg) in class PR2 M1x, crew Nikolay Samsonov (Moscow) and Vladimir Volodin (Novosibirsk region) in PR3 M2 class.
Evgeny Borisov and Valentina Zhagot, the crew from St. Petersburg is leading the fight for the medals the class PR3Mix2X.
The warm up races are planned to take place from 9 to 14 September and the finals from 14 to 16 September.
At the last World Championships, the only representative from Russia was Alexey Chuvashov who won a bronze medal.

Para rowing was included for the first time in the program of the Paralympic Summer Games in Beijing in 2008. In the competitions can participate men and women. Races are held in 4-class boats at a distance of 2000 meters. The rowing boats for male or female single may be equipped with special buoys, which work as stabilizers providing balance. At the Paralympic Summer Games 2020 in Tokyo (Japan) will be played 4 sets of medals in Para rowing. The Russian athletes have to conquer in these games the right to participate in the future Paralympics in two years.
