The RPC Press Release on the RPC’s progress of meeting the paragraphs of the Road map for implementation of RPC Reinstatement criteria for November 2017

On December 4, 2017 the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) forwarder to the IPC Taskforce and to the IPC the monthly Progress Report on meeting the Road Map for implementation of the Russian Paralympic Committee Reinstatement criteria for November 2017 in accordance with the Paragraphs 8-9 of the Criteria.

The Progress Report of November 4, 2017 contains detailed information on realization of coordinated and approved documents and detailed report on all of the RPC activities implemented in the frame of the reinstatement of the RPC membership at the IPC, since January of 2017 and up to today. (Please see copy of the Report attached). In accordance with the statement made by the IPC Director of Media and Communication Mr. Craig Spence the issue of the RPC reinstatement would be discussed at the IPC Governing Board meeting on December 19 and decision will be announced at the press conference on December 22, 2017 in London.

As of December 4, 2017, the IPC Taskforce confirmed the implementation of the most points of the Reinstatement Criteria for the RPC membership reinstatement at the IPC.

In accordance with the Limited Interim Measure: Conditions of Participation of Russian Paralympic Committee neutral athletes/support personnel – the RPC organized the participation of the Russian Paralympic athletes, coaches, medical and athlete’s personnel in training and qualification events in four sports - Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing and snowboard - for next year's Winter Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Since November 28, 2017 the Russian National Team of visually impaired  athletes of cross-country skiing and biathlon and since 6 December the Russian National Team of physically impaired  athletes of cross-country skiing and biathlon  are attending training events in Canada aimed at participation in Para Nordic Skiing World Cup ,7-17 December 2017. 

On December 6, 2017 the Russian National Alpine Skiing Paralympic Teams of visually impaired and physically impaired athletes came to Pitzal (Austria) for participation in   World Para Alpine Skiing Europa Cup.

​- 7-17 December 2017 - Para Nordic Skiing World Cup (Canmore, Canada);

- 7-8 December 2017 - World Para Alpine Skiing Europa Cup (Pitztal, Austria);

- 9-10 December 2017 - Alpine Skiing International Competitions (Austria);

-11-16 December 2017- World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup (St Moritz, Switzerland);

-19-22 December 2017 World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup (Kuhtai, Austria)

In accordance with the Limited Interim Measure: Conditions of Participation of Russian Paralympic Committee neutral athletes/support personnel – in November of 2017 the RPC finished the equipping procedures (with neutral uniforms) of all members of the Russian National Team. The drawing of the uniforms was coordinated with the IPC in September of 2017.

Following the demands outlined in the Limited Interim Measure: Conditions of Participation of Russian Paralympic Committee neutral athletes/support personnel for participation in the qualification events toward forthcoming Winter Paralympic Games 2018 in Korea, the every athlete in duration of half year (six months) prior to the event, must pass no less than two doping tests. As of today, all sixty eight (68) athletes in Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing and snowboard went through no less than two test each – thus fully satisfying the demands of the Limited Interim Measure: Conditions of Participation of Russian Paralympic Committee neutral athletes/support personnel.

The Russian Paralympic Committee will outline its position on the full reinstatement of its membership at the IPC at the forthcoming RPC Governing Board meeting.
