31 August 2017
The President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Vladimir Lukin, the Chairman of the RPC GB, the First Vice-President of the PCR Pavel Rozhkov took part in the meeting of the Founders of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency "RUSADA".

During the meeting, the leaders of the ROC and the RPC, which are the founders of RUSADA, approved the post of the new general director of the organization Yuri Ganus, nominated by the Supervisory Board.

Following the meeting, President of the RPC Vladimir Lukin, President of the ROC Alexander Zhukov, Chairman of the RUSADA Supervisory Board Alexander Ivlev and RUSADA's General Director Yuri Ganus answered journalists questions.

Alexander Ivlev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of "RUSADA":

"The Commission on the selection of the Director General's candidacy has done a great job. Numerous interviews were conducted, more than 700 questionnaires were analyzed, 6 of which were eventually submitted to the Supervisory Board for consideration. Almost unanimously, we approved the candidacy of Yuri Ganus, after which we recommended it to the founders of RUSADA for approval. And today we can congratulate Yuri Alexandrovich on the official start of the work. We are ready to support him in the further activity ".

Vladimir Lukin, President of the Russian Paralympic Committee:

"At today's meeting of the founders, the discussion turned out to be informal and very detailed. We came to the conclusion that Yuri Alexandrovich possesses the necessary qualities to lead the work of RUSADA at a difficult and crucial moment, when it is necessary to exert maximum efforts for the speedy full reinstatement  of the Agency in rights, ensuring effective work and interaction with international structures. "

Alexander Zhukov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee:

"On behalf of the RUSADA founders I want to wish Yuri Alexandrovich successful and fruitful work. The organization will soon have an audit procedure, at the end of September, experts will arrive. The results will depend on the further solution of the main task - the full restoration of RUSAD in rights, so that the organization can perform its functions in the proper volume and conduct systematic, established work throughout Russia. "

Yuri Ganus, Director General of RAA "RUSADA":

"First of all, I would like to thank the founders of the organization for their trust. I believe that the main tasks are to ensure the admission of all Russian athletes and federations to participate in international competitions as soon as possible, to remove restrictions on international competitions to Russia, to integrate RUSADA's work into the international WADA system, and here, I hope, I will benefit from experience of interaction with foreign organizations From the point of view of communications. It is also necessary to raise the credibility of the Russian anti-doping system as a whole, to ensure the protection of our clean athletes and the systematic order in the Agency's activities. To this end, I will necessarily hold meetings with the heads of all-Russian sports federations and plan to involve all interested parties in the joint work.

For me, a new position is certainly a challenge. I, like any indifferent citizen of my country, very worried about what is happening recently with Russian sport. I was engaged in youth handball, not so long ago was a member of the Board of Directors of the news agency  "Soviet Sport", so that the sports theme has always been very close to me. And, it seems to me, working in RUSADA can become a matter of my life. "

The election of the new Director General of the organization is one of the remaining points of the RUSADA Roadmap for Reinstatement n of Compliance to the WADA Code, published by the international organization on August 3, 2017.
