The Minister of sports of Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergey Panov met with the members of the national football team for persons with cerebral Palsy, the European champions of the year

On August 29 2018 the Minister of sports of Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergey Panov congratulated 6 football players from the Nizhny Novgorod Region who won the title of European champions as members of the Russian national football team for persons with cerebral palsy.

Sergey Panov gave memorable presents and gratitude letters from the Ministry of sports of the Nizhny Novgorod Region to the athletes, noting the high level of their training. “Thank you for your victory, for being a respectable example, with will serve as an extra impulse for the citizens of Nizhny Novgorod who have physical impairments to practice adaptive sports, for which our Region has all the necessary facilities”.

On his side, Andrey Kuvaev, the coach and an honored master of sports of Russia, expressed his gratitude to the Regional administration for the support.

“This victory means too much for our athletes. During several years, we did not have enough luck to become European champions. In the national team 6 of the players are from the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which is a maximum number of players from only one place”.

We are reminding that on 5 August 2018 in the Netherlands was completed the European Championship on 7х7 football for persons with cerebral palsy. The victory of the Russian team completed the final match between Russia and Ukraine with a score 3-2. The Nizhny Novgorod athlete Aleksey Borkin scored all the three goals.

 The Russian athletes for the first time became European champions in this kind of sport, winning the Ukrainian team that won the championship in 2016. 

At the present time, in the Region of Nizhny Novgorod are practicing sport on a permanent basis more than 23 thousand persons with physical impairments.
