Moscow, 3 December - The Award Ceremony “Return To Life” took place in the new Russian Paralympic Committee head-quarters in the frames of celebration of International Day of People with Disabilities.
The new head-quarters were opened by the Chairwoman of Federal Council of Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko.
“It is long-waiting event for all sport community and, surely, a landmark of the development of Paralympic movement. We made a step forward creating the system for mass adaptive sport what is an essential instrument for holding and enrich the current sport achievements”
President’s Advisor Igor Levitin read the welcome speech of the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Paralympic Sport unifies courageous, forceful men and men of spirit. And we are sincerely proud of and admire of Russian athletes, who not only won, but also cut the way for others, present them hope, help to believe in yourself, to overcome any circumstances.
Who was the best athlete of the year? Whose results did attract more attention? Who contributed more to development of adaptive sport? The answers for all these questions are given every year by the Russian NPC during the Award Ceremony “Return To Life”
The first Ceremony was held in 2003 with support of Ministry of Sport, VGTRK and Parasport Foundation, headed by Oleg Boyko.
2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi were the brightest event for Russia in 2014. Russian Paralympians showed good results, taking 80 medals and first position in medal ranking.
The first nomination “Standing point” 2-times Paralympic Champion in Alpine Skiing was awarded as well as head coach of Russian National Alpine Skiing Team Alexander Nazarov. The awards were given by Vice-Prime-Minister of Russia Arkady Dvorkovich, Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko, chairman of State Duma Committee of Natural Recourses and Ecology Vladimir Kashin and IPC Vice-President Andrew Parsons.
The next nomination “What is our Life? It is Fight!” Abdula Kuramagomedov, world champion in Judo was awarded by Igor Levitin and Olympic champion in wrestling Alexander Karelin.
3-times Paralympic Champion in Nordic Skiing Mikhalina Lysova was awarded in nomination “I love you, Life”. The presents were given by Olympic champion in speed skating, Svetlana Zhurova, IBSA President Jannie Hammershoi and Parilis Foundation Director Natalia Krel.
Russian permanent Chef De Mission at Paralympic Games Pavel Rozhkov and IWAS President Paul DePace and Deputy Chairman of Federation of Independent Trade Unions David Krishtal awarded the next nominee Dmitry Kokarev, 3-time European champion in swimming by the nomination “Second Breath”.
Married couple Dmitry and Ekaterina Lisovs was awarded by the nomination “And Life, And Tears, And Love”.
Nomination “By Personal example” was granted to Russian National Ice Sledge Hockey Team which became silver medalist in Sochi. The team was represented by the captain Dmitry Lisov, Vadim Selyukin and head coach Sergey Samoylov.
The awards were given by the Secretary of Physical Culture and Sport Council Alexey Kulakovsky, Parasport Foundation founder Oleg Boyko and 2-times Olympic champion in hockey Alexey Kasatonov.
2-times World champion Alexey Obyddenov was awarded by the nomination “Power in Will” by Chairman of the Foundation of Social Insurance Andrey Kigim, Russian NPC Secretary General, 5-times Paralympic champion Andrey Strokin and Vice-president of “Systema” Charity Foundation Elena Shmeleva.
2-times World champion Roman Fedyaev was awarded by the nomination “Twist of fate” by 3-times Olympic champion in fencing Galina Gorokhova, vice-president of the Central Council of Tourism Nikolay Paltsev, Olympic champion Tatyana Lebedeva.
Russian National Women’s Goalball Team was awarded by the nomination “Overcoming” by Chairman of the Sport Committee in State Duma Igor Ananskikh, 13-times Paralympic champion Rima Batalova and General Director of “Kontrast Estate” International Company Elena Kvolek.
6-times Paralympic champion Roman Petyshkov was awarded by the nomination “Returning To Life” by 4-times Olympic champion in biathlon, board member of Russian Biathlon Union Alexander Tikhonov, Head of Physical Culture and Sport Committee of Moscow Alexey Vorobyev, head of PR Department of “Pravoslavnaya Expeditsiya (Orthodox Expedition)” Sergey Romanovsky, and Duputy Director of Sberbank Insurance Dmitry Baginsky.
At the conclusion of the Ceremony Vladimir Lukin and Pavel Rozhkov delivered speeches. The thanked the event partners who supported and helped to organize the Ceremony.
