TASS, March 22. The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will make the final decision on holding the 2020 Olympic Games no sooner than four weeks later. This was written on Twitter by the journalist of the British television channel ITV Steve Scott.
“The IOC Executive Board has given itself another four weeks of deferment until a final decision on the Tokyo Olympics is made. An assessment will be made before alternative plans are taken. The deadlines for the decision are set for the first time,” Scott wrote.
The Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo should be held from July 24 to August 9, the Paralympic Games from August 25 to September 6. The IOC and Japanese authorities have been consistent in stating that the Games will take place on time.
The outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of 2019 in Central China, later spreading to more than 150 countries and was recognized by the World Health Organization as a pandemic. Over 300 thousand people were infected in the world, more than 12 thousand deaths were recorded.
