President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Andrew Parsons and First Vice-President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov discussed preparations for the Games in Tokyo in connection with the current epidemiological situation. This was reported to TASS by Pavel Rozhkov.
"In connection with the epidemiological situation in the world, we discussed preparations for the summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo" - Rozhkov said.
The first vice-president of the Russian Paralympic Committee noted the work carried out by the IPC in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
"On behalf of the RCC, I thanked Andrew Parsons for providing all national Paralympic Committees with weekly operational information about the outbreak of coronavirus, its impact on sports movement, attention and concern for Russian athletes, coaches and specialists in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic," Rozhkov added.
The outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of 2019 in Central China, spread to most countries of the world and was recognized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11. According to the latest data, around 1.3 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the world, and about 70 thousand deaths have been recorded.
