TOKYO, July 22. / TASS /. 241 Russian athletes will compete at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. TASS was informed about this by the Acting President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov.

"The team consisted of 430 people, of which 241 are athletes - 129 men and 112 women. The team consists of 90 honored masters of sports and 94 masters of sports of international class. In total, representatives of 50 constituent entities of the Russian Federation will take part in the games. The largest number of athletes from Moscow," - said Rozhkov.

"Russian Paralympians will take part in 19 out of 22 sports included in the program of the Games. For the first time we will participate in badminton, boccia, rowing and canoeing, triathlon, taekwondo, as well as competitions among women in goalball and seated volleyball," he added Rozhkov.

The Acting President of the RPC noted that in connection with the antiquated measures taken by the organizing committee of the competition, the traditional seeing off of the athletes will be held online. "In accordance with the notification, members of the delegation who were in Moscow for the last 14 days before their trip to Japan will need to minimize contacts with others during the last three days of their stay in Russia and take PCR tests daily. In Tokyo, we have made a decision from July 15 to restrict the movement of athletes and hold the traditional departure of the national team and part of the organizational events in the online format."

Paralympics in Tokyo will be held from August 24 to September 5. According to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Russian athletes are deprived of the opportunity to play under the flag and anthem of the country at the World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games until December 16, 2022.
