SPENCE IN COMMENTS FOR R-SPORT: IPC KNOWS ABOUT RPC PROGRESS, PARTICIPATION OF ITS REPRESENTATIVES IN THE FOVERNING BOARD MEETING IS NOT NECESSARY
MOSCOW, Jan. 25 - RIA Novosti, Vasily Konov, Jr. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is well aware of the progress of the Paralympic Committee of Russia (RPC) in the reinstatement process, therefore there is no need for participation of RPC representatives in the IPC Governing Board meeting, director of media and communications at the International Paralympic Committee Craig Spence told RIA News.
On Thursday it became known that the IPC president declined the request of the RPC president Vladimir Lukin for the possibility of the Senior officials of the RPC to address the members of the IPC GB at the meeting on 26-27 January in Bonn, Germany, where a decision on the participation of Russians in the Paralympic Games-2018 should be taken.
"The IPC Taskforce has been in constant and close contact with the RPC since December 2016, we are well aware of the progress they have made in the reinstatement, so we do not consider it necessary for the representatives of the RPC to attend the meeting of the IPC GB, the IPC Taskforce will assume everything," - Spence said.
In August 2016, the IPC took an unanimous decision to suspend the Russians from the Paralympic Games-2016 and to suspend the RPC in the IPC . In December 2017, IPC extended the suspension of the RPC.
