The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has approved the name, emblem, flag and anthem of the Russian team at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo and Beijing. The IPC noted that they have no objections to the use of the name, emblem, flag and anthem of the Russian team submitted for approval, and that they fully comply with the conditions set forth in the CAS decision in the case of WADA v. RUSADA.
According to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the dispute between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), Russian athletes cannot participate in major international competitions under the Russian flag until December 16, 2022. The use of the national anthem and coat of arms is also prohibited.
The acronym RPC will be used in the name of the team. The emblem of the Paralympic teams will be a combination of the Paralympic symbol Agitos with three flames painted in white, blue and red. The flag of the Russian Paralympic Team will be used. At all official ceremonies, including award ceremonies, instead of the anthem of the Russian Federation, the Piano Concert No. 1 of Pyotr Tchaikovsky will play.
Then the materials will be sent to international federations for the use of them at the world championships. The first competitions for the Russian Paralympic team should take place in June - the World Road Cycling Championships in Portugal and the World Para Ice Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic.
The Tokyo Paralympic Summer Games will be held from August 24 to September 5, 2021, and the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games will be held from March 4 to 13, 2022.
