The Russian Paralympic Committee (RpC) is in close contact with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) concerning organizing the participation of the Russian team in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Pavel Rozhkov, First Vice President of the RPC, told RIA Novosti.
"RPC is in close contact with IPC to organize the participation of the Russian team in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. Today, under the leadership of IPC President Andrew Parsons, an online conference was held with the participation of all European national Paralympic Committees, during which organizational issues of preparation and participation were discussed athletes in the Paralympics 2020, selection for participation in the Games and classification of athletes ahead of the Games, taking into account the coronavirus pandemic, "Rozhkov said.
“Every Thursday, IPC posts on its Internet resources and sends updated information concerning the organizing of Paralympics to the National Paralympic Committees,” he added.
According to Rozhkov, at the moment, IPC and international sports federations have canceled or rescheduled 55 international competitions, where it was planned to participate in the Russian national summer and winter sports included in the Paralympic Games program.
“On the recommendation of the Ministry of Sports, all-Russian sports federations by type of disability postponed 27 competitions and sports festivals in our country, which were supposed to be held in March-April of this year.
