Chairman of the Executive Board, the First Vice-President of the Russian Paralympic Committee, Vice-President of the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) Pavel Rozhkov took part in a video conference call of the IWAS Executive Committee meeting.
The meeting was chaired by IWAS President Rudi van den Abbeele.
Participants of the meeting discussed the cancellation of the 2020 IWAS World Games in Thailand and the Asian Wheelchair Fencing Championship, the 2021 Guttmann Games, the Wheelchair Fencing Congress, scheduled online for November 21, 2020. Special attention has been given to the IWAS anti-doping work.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rudi van den Abbeele thanked Pavel Rozhkov, who is responsible for anti-doping activities in IWAS, and Deputy Head of the Russian Paralympic Committee Commission on Medicine, Anti-Doping and Athlete’s Classification, member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Medicine Committee, Head of the IWAS Anti-Doping Committee Guzel Idrisov for the work done on the preparation of the draft of the new IWAS Anti-Doping Code of 2021, which was sent to WADA for approval.
At the same time, WADA noted that, given the IWAS opportunity to hold major sporting events, it is necessary to develop a second IWAS Anti-Doping Code - as the Organizer of major sporting events.
It will be active at the IWAS World Games and the IWAS World Youth Games, which feature sports sponsored by other international federations.
The next meeting of the IWAS Executive Committee will take place on November 10, also in the format of video conference calls.
