The champions and prizewinners of the Paralympic Games, World and European Championships in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk took part in the opening, awarding and closing ceremonies of the Badminton championship among athletes with Physical Impairments in the offset of the Ugra Para Spartakiad Games.
Tournament participants were greeted by the vice-president of the Russian Paralympic Committee, 3-time champion of the Paralympic Games in Athletics among VI Athletes, Olga Semenova, champion of the Paralympic Games in CP football, Ivan Potekhin, silver medalist of the Paralympic Games in powerlifting among PI Athletes Vladimir Balynets, silver medalist in the Paralympic Games Sledge Hockey Vadim Selyukin, 9-time world champion in athletics among PI Athletes Andrei Vdovin, 5-time world champion in swimming among PI Athletes Roman Zhdanov, 2-time world champion in Wheelchair Fencing Roman Fedyaev, world champion in archery sports among PI Athletes Elena Krutova.
The titled athletes wished the participants of the competition a successful performance.
Further, as part of the sports and educational project of the Russian Paralympic Committee “Future Champions”, the titled Paralympic champions held master classes and spoke about their sports successes, as well as introduced the younger generation to the values of sports and the difficulties on the way to champion titles. Each of the athletes held a master class in their sport, during which young participants asked the masters of Russian sports questions about sports and life.
Following the meeting, an autograph session was held. Each participant of the tournament received a memorable gift from the hands of his idol.
Master classes were held as part of the V All-Russian Forum on the Development of the Paralympic Movement in the Russian Federation.
