MORE THAN 250 ATHLETES WILL TAKE PART IN RUSSIAN PARA SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP AMONG PI ATHLETES IN UFA

In Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan) at the Sports Training Center named after Rima Batalova the Russian Para Swimming Championship is held by the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments.

The opening ceremony took place on April 5. It was attended by the Secretary General of the Russian Paralympic Committee, the President of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments, 5-time champion of the Paralympic Games Andrei Strokin, Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan Elza Karamurzina, Honored Coach of Russia, member of the RPC Governing Board, Chairman of the regional branch of the RPC in the Republic of Bashkortostan Yevgeny Emelyanov, Honored coach of Russia, senior coach of the Russian National Para Swimming team of sports for persons with physical impairments Yuri Nazarenko, Honored coach of Russia, senior coach of the national team of the Republic of Bashkortostan of sports for persons with physical impairments Sergey Trukhachev.

The competition will last until April 10. 254 athletes from 39 regions of the country are competing for medals.

As a result of the national championship, the composition of the Russian national team for the 2021 European Championship, which will be held from May 16 to 22 in Portugal, will be formed.

Swimming is the second most medal sport played at the 16th Paralympic Games. In total, 540 sets of medals will be played at the 2020 Games, of which 146 sets will be competed for swimmers.
