Matches of Group Stage of the World Sledge Hockey Championship began in Ostrava, Czech Republic

The Czech Ostrava hosts the World Sledge Hockey Championship from June 19 to 26.

On June 19, the group stage matches began.

Russian sledge hockey players begin their performance in Group B and will face the Slovak national team in the first match. The live broadcast will be available at 22:00 Moscow time at the link: https://youtu.be/tYdzizr7K8U?list=PL6CBAXPeBajkmYHNXEtdt2p-jTmdR0JCb. On June 20 at 18:30 Moscow time a match will take place with Italy, and on June 22 at 12:30 Moscow time - with Norway.

Group A includes teams from the USA, Canada, South Korea and the Czech Republic.

The group stage games will end on June 22, after which the 2 best teams from Group A will advance to the semifinals of the competition, and the teams that took 3rd and 4th places in Group A will face the 2 best teams from Group B for the right to reach the semifinals.

Semifinal matches will take place on June 25th. Winners and awardees will be determined on June 26th.

The Russian team included 17 athletes: team captain Dmitry Lisov (Moscow region), Evgeny Plotnikov, Ilya Volkov, Mikhail Myachin, Andrey Sokolov, Nikolai Terentyev, Konstantin Shikhov (all Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra), Stanislav Barykin, Andrey Kasatkin, Ivan Kuznetsov, Evgeny Petrov, Airat Khamzin (all Moscow region), Dmitry Galkin, Vladimir Rychkov (both the Udmurt Republic), Igor Maletsky (Moscow), Ilya Popov (Tula region) and Alexey Eremin (Orenburg region). The senior coach of the team is Honored Coach of Russia Ruslan Batyrshin.
