MARIA NIKIFOROVA WONS SILVER MEDAL ON DAY SECOND OF PARACANOE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN DENMARK

From 16 to 19 September in Copenhagen (Denmark) the world championship in canoe sprint and paracanoe took place.

On the second day of the paracanoe competition, the final races were held in the VL 2 class among men and women, as well as in VL3 - among men.

Maria Nikiforova (Volgograd Region - St. Petersburg) scored 1 minute 05.11 seconds in canoe races in VL2 class and won a silver medal.

The winner in the final race was the champion of the XVI Paralympic Summer Games, the representative of Great Britain, Emma Wiggs - 57.55. The third place was taken by the representative of Brazil, Debora Benevides - 1: 06.30.

In the canoe races among men in the VL2 class, the metropolitan athlete Igor Korobeinikov stopped one step away from the podium (56.78), losing 0.25 seconds to the bronze medalist.

The winner was Brazilian Fernando Paulo (53.93). The second place went to the Spanish athlete Higinio Rivero (56.21). The third place was taken by the athlete from Portugal Norberto Mourao (56.54).

In the VL3 class, Egor Firsov (Moscow region - St. Petersburg) and Maxim Popov (Volgograd region) took 2nd and 5th places in the final B.

On September 18, the winners of the kayak races will be determined.

Pavel Gromov (Krasnodar Territory) and Alexander Ilyichev (Nizhny Novgorod Region) will compete in the KL1 class among men in the final of the competition.

Among women, Nadezhda Andreeva (St. Petersburg-Rostov region) will fight in the KL2 class, and Maria Nikiforova (Volgograd region - St. Petersburg) - in KL1.
