The IWRF would like to thank Christoph Werner for his seven-years of service to our sport as President of the IWRF European Zone.
Elected in 2013 at the IWRF European Championship in Antwerp, Belgium, Werner worked hard to reunite countries within the zone and help promote new growth during his tenure. Always willing to help, he organized several IWRF Division B and C championships in Germany, when no other hosts could be found. This dedication assured that lower ranked nations within Europe always had the opportunity to compete and improve their world rankings at IWRF sanctioned events.
IWRF President, Richard Allcroft commented; “I want to thank Christoph for his commitment to the sport. I know that he will continue to be involved in many roles, not least his contribution to coaching.”
Werner began his wheelchair rugby career as an athlete where he eventually transitioned to Head Coach of the German National team. He has assured us that he will continue to be involved with the sport, and will undoubtedly help provide support to all teams in Europe. Good luck Christoph, and thanks again!
While no replacement for European zone president has been made, the IWRF will be making an announcement about this position in the near future. For more information please email firstname.lastname@example.org
