In Dzerzhinsk (Nizhny Novgorod Region), the Russian Paralympic Committee held a alignment meeting on topical issues of preparation for the XIII Paralympic Winter Games in 2022 in Beijing (China).

The alignment meeting was held within the framework of the VII All-Russian Forum on the Development of the Paralympic Movement in the Russian Federation.

Acting President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov greeted the participants of the event and spoke about the preparation of sports teams of the Russian Federation for participation in the XIII Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing (China).

He noted:
The XIII Paralympic Winter Games will be held from 4 to 13 March 2022 in Beijing. The capital of China will be the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games.

At the 2022 Games, 78 sets of medals will be played in 6 sports, 736 athletes from approximately 50 countries are expected to participate.

Sledge hockey competitions, wheelchair curling, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games will be held directly in Beijing. Cross-country skiing, biathlon and snowboarding will be held in the mountains in the Zhangjiakou zone. Alpine skiing - in the Yanqing area.

Currently, 90% of quotas have been allocated for the Paralympic Games in Beijing, our athletes have won 41 quotas in 5 sports. The total composition of the Russian Paralympic delegation to the Games can be up to 150 people, including up to 70 athletes, we will take part in all six types of Paralympic sports.

In the final stage of preparation for the XII Paralympic Games in Beijing, about 100 athletes from the national teams of the Russian Federation will take part.

Taking into account the adaptation to the climatic and geographical features of Beijing, most of the teams are planning to hold final training events before the Paralympic Games in the Far Eastern, Siberian and Ural Federal Districts.

Then the President of the All-Russian Federation of Sports for Persons with Physical Impairments, Secretary General of the RPC Andrey Strokin and President of the Federation of Sports of the Blind, Vice President of the RPC Lidia Abramova spoke. They talked about the progress in preparing the teams of their federations for the upcoming Paralympics.

Guzel Idrisova, head of the anti-doping, medical and scientific-methodological support department of the RPC staff, spoke about the anti-doping and medical support of athletes of the Russian sports teams during the preparation and participation in the Games in Beijing.

Acting Minister of Sports of the Sakhalin Region Artem Podshivalov, Director of the Center for Adaptive Physical Culture and Adaptive Sports of the Primorsky Territory Alexander Tsybulsky and Director of the Regional Center for Sports Training for Adaptive Sports of the Chelyabinsk Region Pavel Titov spoke about the organization of training for members of Paralympic teams at sports facilities in the regions.

At the end of the seminar-meeting, the senior coaches of the Russian national teams in Paralympic winter sports spoke, who reported on the plans for the final stage of preparation: in cross-country skiing and biathlon - Irina Gromova and Alexey Kopytin, alpine skiing - Alexander Nazarov and Natalya Brusova, wheelchair curling - Anton Batugin.
